On Stargate SG1, do you think that Carter and Teal'c will hook up?

Now that O'Neil is out of the picture, Mitchel and Jackson work together a lot, so Carter and Teal'c have been spending more time together. Teal'c has always been the suportive one when Carter is struggling. Maybe now they can have their time. What do you think?

Actually, no. Carter's relationship with Teal'c isn't much different than her relationship with Daniel. In fact, Carter usually turns to Daniel first, and only began to seek Teal'c's support after Daniel's ascension. As many have observed, Sam and Daniel are the "Science Twins", far more sibling-like in nature. Using the same model, Teal'c is an 'older brother' for Sam, not a romantic interest.





There are actually several reasons why Mitchell and Daniel are usually paired on missions:





- Sam and Mitchell are both Air Force officers, and it makes sense to have at least one USAF member in each group.





- Now that Daniel is far more capable of defending himself and doesn't LOOK like the weakest member of the team, it's a better match to pair him with his physical equal and put the most physically intimidating team member with the least imposing. As tough as Sam is, she's still a woman and may be perceived as an easy mark to those who don't know her.





- Though Mitchell probably won't admit it out loud, Teal'c intimidates HIM. Mitchell is also chatty by nature, and finds it awkward to work with Teal'c at times as he is prone to silence ("The Scourge" is a perfect example). Mitchell is equally fascinated by Daniel, though, so is far more patient than O'Neill ever was with the brainy stuff Daniel gets himself involved in so much.





Finally, O'Neill isn't completely "out of the picture" for Sam (though I've always been more enamored of the tension between them rather than the thought of an actual romantic relationship). While the character makes only the rare appearance--two small cameos in season nine and two much larger roles in season ten--and is only occasionally referenced in conversation, the character has been given an important position which has him on the opposite side of the country from the SGC. Colorado Springs is but a single flight away from Washington DC, though, and if the Air Force has one thing, it's jets and planes...

Reply:I don't know. At first I got the under lying impression that Carter and O'Neil were 'together' when she was not on duty but then on into the season I wasn't so sure. I think she should be with O'Neil and he should come back every now and again. Teal'c does need a woman but I don't want to give up on Carter and O'Neil. Teal'c could hook up with the new doctor. hummmm
