Do you think that just b/c jesus died for our sins, we can get away with more sins?

I think people these days are using him as more of an excuse to continue to act the way they do. B/c they say "Jesus died for my sins no matter what I'll be forgiven" What do you think?

The whole of Galatians is arguing against that line of reasoning - if we sin we disobey God! Christians should obey Him!





Galatians 2:


16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.





17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.





1 Corinthians 3:


16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?





17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

1 Corinthians 6:


9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

1 Corinthians 6:


15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.





18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.





19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?





20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

The person who wrote that is totally and utterly WRONG!
Reply:Jesus said in the bible that "except a man is born again, he can not see the kingdom of God"





Being born again means confessing your old sinful ways and forsake them (i.e. sin no more).





Thus, Jesus concluded the above statement: Once a man is born again, old things have passed away, now all things becomes new.





Therefore, for Jesus to have died for our sins is not a precedent of committing yet all sorts of sins. Hence, all sinful soul shall perish.

Reply:The Bible tells us, in the Letter to the Hebrews, that if we go on sinning even after the truth is revealed to us, we can expect nothing but eternal punishment.





I think that says it all, really.
Reply:Ahhh, the sweet odour of the Elect. I thought Calvinism was dead and gone too. Very interesting book on the subject by James Hogg, The Private memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner. I'd recommend it.

Reply:Martin Luther said something to the effect that we should sin as much as possible, otherwise Jesus's sacrifice would be wasted!
Reply:According to general Christian doctrine (there are 1,000's of variations) the only unforgivable sin is "denying the Holy Ghost" (whatever that means).





Other than that one, Christians are free to commit as many sins as they want, as often as they want, and any kind they want.





Why do you think so many people claim to be Christian? No rules, no regulations and no consequences for "bad" behavior.





Additional comment:





According to general Christian doctrine, what Christians "should" do and what they actually do have no bearing whatsoever on their belief that God killed himself to pay for all their "sins."





Except for that one about the "Holy Ghost."
Reply:If you're a Christian, your sins are forgiven. However, Jesus knows your heart. If you sin just because you know you'll be forgiven for it, then you've forgot the purpose of salvation which means that you probably aren't really save, which means you're going to hell anyway. Hope this helps!
Reply:I think that there's no excuse for sining. Even if you accept His sacrifice, you can't use it as a excuse. Yes, you'll be forgiven, but He still expects us to try (with His help) to lead a sinless life.
Reply:Romans 6:15 - What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. One answer about you only have so many tries is not true. "Where sin abound grace did more abound. God grace is bigger than on sin. But that does not give us libert to live in sin.

Reply:Christians (those who put their faith and trust in Christ) are completely forgiven... BUT should we continue in sin that grace may abound? NO NO NO! Salvation is not a license to sin. Christians are called to holiness and obedience.
Reply:very true! christians are the biggest hypocrites i know! they say do this and do that but they dont even do it themselves. how do they expect anyone to listen to thier drivel when they dont believe it themselves????
