Do you think M-A-C is overpriced?

i just bought 3 eye shadows.





that came up to $ 40.50





Some friends i am dumb to buy it.





and my mom get's upset she thinks i live beyond my means.





it's just makeup.





is it dumb of me. to buy it. is it relli overpriced?

Do you think M-A-C is overpriced?
they are all over priced, MAC, Laura Mercia, Este Lauder, Lamcome,Clarins.. the list can go on and on.





I always just buy a few things that I use on a regualr basis otherwise its like a waste of money. Alot of the drug store brands are coming out with the same colors and blends like pure pigments.





There are still a few things that you can only get from a counter like Foundation Primer or cake liner, but I am sure that will chnage soon too.





But one thing is for sure when you are loyal to a brand/ product it is hard to stray for example I only buy my liquid foundation from Laura Mercia and I love Lamcome's Hypnotic Mascara. Can get a bit pricey, but they are products that i use alot.
Reply:Depending on what kinds of the eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushes, ect that u buy.. To me M.A.C. is a reasonable price when I go to the Beverly Center, or Fox Hills, or even Bloomingdales. You can find them even more cheap when you buy in the off seasons that way your ready the following year... {kinda like Christmas shoppin in June/July; or summer shopping in the winter} Besides for my sensative skin {and being African American} it helps to splurge when its really the only brand besides Bobbi Brown that matches my complexion flawlessly...





And what WOMAN wouldn't want to be FLAWLESS!!!!!!

Reply:mac is bit pricey... but no one can take away the quality.. i love mac makeup. and you cant get that same quality and look anywhere else for a cheaper price. if you're using your money to buy it.... then no one can get upset at how your spending your money. and it does make a difference as opposed to having some cheap eyeshadow from like a drug store. some might think its dumb, but whatever to them, cause in the end, it's your life, your decisions and no one can make you feel bad about what you do in your personal life.... :)

Reply:become an AVON consultant, you earn money and buy your stuff at a discount. I didnt buy beauty products because Im a SAHM and felt guilty. Now I can get all my stuff for free every month with the commission I earn.
Reply:any place you buy MAC or Clinique or what ever will be the same price, it is in the contract, they can't go on sale. And yes compared to covergirl they are expensive but I use clinique because I think it goes on better and lasts longer than cover girl

Reply:I think MAC compared to other similar brands is much more reasonabley priced. liek their blushes are a great price!! but their eye shadows... for the price i would say go with smashbox!

Reply:Do you realize there are only a few cosmetic manufacturers in the world. The company that makes MAC's eye color also makes it for Lamcomb and Mary Kay and a few others. So yes%26lt; MAC is overpriced!
Reply:$40.50 for three eyeshadows?! That is a waste of money. I think most make-up is overpriced. You can find really good stuff for cheap prices. People think that just because a brand is expensive, it must be better...which is not always the case.
Reply:M-A-C can be overpriced. If you paid $40.50 for three eye shadows then it must be name brand. Remember you are paying for the name. If you must have name brand wait till they have a real sale. Also try getting things that do the same thing or something similar as the name brand without the name brand price. Even if you get a free gift by buying it at a department store you will be paying for the free gift and then some. Especially if you can buy the same type of product at a cheaper price else where.
Reply:I think MAC is overpriced for "costume makeup" that you can't use everyday and is bad for your skin. It has the dramatic effect for that once in a while look, but can look tacky if overused.
Reply:iF YOU SHOP @ THOSE PLACES - "NO" THEY'RE NOT OVER-PRICED, AS EVERYTHING @ DAVIDSON'S AND MACY'S IS ALREADY OVERPRICED.


IF YOU'RE USING YOUR MOM'S MONEY, ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT COME FROM THE 'DOLLAR STORE' IS WAY OVERPRICED.

Reply:Umm well I say you're lucky to be getting it at those prices. I live in Trinidad (jn the Caribbean) and and 1 eye shadow here is $120 TT (Which is about $20US for one) Although they are a bit expensive they are very good brands and last for a long time. I think it is reasonable enough considering how useful it is.
