Reply:everyone in this country is responsible for all the oil related problems in this country we as consumers aren't happy with small fuel efficient cars we want want the ginormous suvs and trucks and sports cars that get poor gas mileage thus upping the demand and giving them the upper hand everything that you and i will casually toss into the trash today and disregard as waste requires oil to make it and ship it we need to stop adding fuel to their fire we waste more fossil fuel in a day than we use for out of necessity and god forbid if we have to take time out of our busy lives to sort our trash for recycling its our fault we created this problem and like the typical Americans we are we want to point the finger elsewhere and say its their fault instead of being accountable for our own ignorance of our actions
Reply:The politicians all had a hand in it. Efforts to buy them for this election below. Tabacco Industy too now that "vice taxes" are being collected.

Can I be very frank and vent just a bit? I am sick and tired of the stereo typing of Californian's as selfish inconsiderate people who refuse to use public transportation and choose instead to destroy "Mother Earth" by driving their own cars to excess.

Fact is that California has the busiest sea ports in the nation. That imported china you are putting on your dinning room table-guess what?-most likely came into the country via a California shipping port. It then was picked up by an 18 wheeler truck which was driven in from one of the other continental states bringing in its own polluted exhaust emissions. It sits among a huge line of other similar trucks awaiting it's turn to make its pick up. When the pick up is done it fills up with fuel here thereby depleting the overall fuel supply and driving up the fuel costs for those of us living here in this state. Driving through and out of California it again adds to the pollution of the air in this state.

So when you put that china on your table for Thanks giving dinner-please give some thought to those of us who suffer the consequences of making that possible. If at all possible buy from companies producing goods here in the U.S.A. to bring jobs back into our country and help reduce the pollution Californians have to live in. Thank you very much.

Did I mention the trucks entering and exiting this state for the purpose of exporting products? If your business exports through California sea ports then you owe Californians a debt of gratitude, do you not?

And I do recycle-and I sweep my driveway (not waste water) and sweep clean the street curb area in front and to the side of my property (cornor house) so debrie does not wash into the ocean-have always reused Christmas wrap and bows (was teased for years for doing that by family) Wash dishes the old fashion way. Drive a 2003 Toyota Echo. Have the new energy efficant light bulbs in my house. I would walk more instead of drive but all the "horrny dogs" out there with the cat calls and horn honking make me too paranoid to do it.
Reply:When did oil companies get out of control? If they'd kept up with inflation of everything else, we'd probably be paying $6+ per gallon already. When people complain about gas prices, it just makes me laugh. People complain all the time about the 3-4% profit oil companies make on gas, but almost no one complains about the 15+% the government makes on it.
Reply:Cheney and Bush

Breaux and Tassin from Louisiana, both started lobbying companies that made their children zillionaires.
Reply:all of them. big corporations run the world now. we are just puppets.
