If people remove questions just b/c they think it's "insulting", doesn't that stop the learning process

Everyone's opinions should be valued. Even trolls. It's just INTERESTING to see how diff people think and feel. Even if they are bigots.

If people remove questions just b/c they think it's "insulting", doesn't that stop the learning process
Agree 100%.

But some people don't want to learn. They just want to hear others regurgitate their own opinion back to them. They have a narrow mind.

I NEVER report questions or answers.

Never..
Reply:trust me --they can be bad enough to be removed--although the current trend is toward wussiness
Reply:you are totally right! I actually love to have all the differnet answers I can get even those I do not like, makes it fun and interesting, just block the bone-heads doing that to you or put you setting to private in edit, helps!
Reply:we do need to know how to deal with them too. but lets not go to far.
Reply:I agree...it teaches you to be more patient with some people and it helps reinforce certain points! :)
Reply:Yes.
Reply:It's not what they say, but how they say it. Read the Y/A rules. Insulting or harassing comments or questions are not allowed. Nobody should have to put up with being insulted. Do you think that a person who insults you is simply disagreeing? You should probably have some therapy, because you are going to invite abusive people into your life,if you don't develop some limits around yourself.
Reply:I would think so. If I reported people for stuff that violates the TOS, I'd be reporting all day! I don't report because I don't want anyone to report me. Of course, I've been reported a lot. I don't know why, because I've never said anything obscene. Well, not when I've been sober. Anyhoo, I don't think other posters should have that power.
Reply:Group therapy is valued highly. In this limited environment it is less adverse and cognitively focused, i.e. cognitive therapy.
Reply:The thing about acutal "trolls", though, is that most of the time they actually aren't telling you what they really think. They just know that "whoo, I know the best way to make everyone all upset" and then they'll say something outrageous because they just get off on everyone getting mad.

Trying to understand someone else's opinion is one thing. Being pulled into someone's jacking-off is another thing.
Reply:Depends what is meant by insulting.

Views which contradict my own are not insulting (though I may find them offensive).

Personal abuse however is insulting and should be treated accordingly. I learn nothing from people who have nothing better to do than insult me.

There is a world of difference between those two things.
Reply:I agree 100%. Part of grown and developing as a person is learning new things. You cannot experience new things you you close yourself off from them or emediatly turn away anyone with a diferent opinion.
Reply:Let us have tolerance....thus to learn and to grow and to understand and to know.... Amen. Cheers.
