Why am I always depressed b/c I think about all the adoptable and homeless animals are put to death!!!?

I cant get one right now cause I already have ONE!(PARENTS WONT ALLOW IT)

HOW COULD i TALK THEM INTO LETTING ME GET ANOTHER???

Why am I always depressed b/c I think about all the adoptable and homeless animals are put to death!!!?
not all of them are put to sleep. There are a lot of shelters out there that are No Kill Facilities. They will keep the cat until it dies of natural causes.

I volunteer at a no kill shelter and there was an old cat there named Sampson. He was 10 y/o's and had a snaggle tooth. One day a man stopped by to adopt a puppy and saw poor Sampson. He fell in love and said he would be happy to take him. So, after over 5 years in the shelter Sampson got a home.

If you want to help, voltunteer. It's sad, but you can't blame the shelters, blame the people who don't fix their animals.
Reply:Well the puppys and the dogs that dont get adopted don`t get put to sleep! only mean dogs that aren`t good around little kids while there eating,or bite you when you try to play with it!and its a sad thing b-cuz i love dogs! but try to tell your parents about how you would take care of it i wuld get a small dog a real small dog like a yourkie they only eat very little
Reply:No public issue should make you depressed. You need to find some positive things to do with your life so that you are not obsessing about something that is not in your control.

You can make a small difference with this issue, by volunteering at a local animal shelter or helping with pat adoptions but you must accept that this is just a lousy thing about life on this planet that you cannot personally change this side of heaven.
Reply:You can still save lives. As people have suggested, volunteer in a shelter. Or work with your own dog until he/she is a model of dog behavior and then help other people with their problem animals. Or perhaps you could run a low cost dog walking service and prevent people from getting frustrated and giving their dogs up......
Reply:You may consider volunteering at the local shelter, or campaigning at your school to promote adoptions. While you can't get another pet, you may still save lives!
Reply:I would wait untill you are older and can afford and have the time to take care of 2 cats. A cat is a living breathing thing not just somthing you can just own for the fun of it its a big responsablity it would be unfair to both the old and new cat for you to get another there are many no kill shelters out there blame people who dont take care of there cats and don't spade or neuter them.
Reply:Talking parents in to something they do not want to do can be very hard. While you are trying (or even after you do) please consider this option:

Go to your local animal shelter and find the animals that have been there the longest, then donate money toward their adoption fee. What this will do is lower their adoption fee. This will entice the buyer to adopt that pet (as it will lower their costs). This option not only helps the animal be adopted into a nice home but it will help the buyers that might not have a whole lot of money but would LOVE to have a pet!
Reply:you cannot do anything until you grow up and move into a house of your own.. it is unfair to your parents and to the pet you already have...

a pet is a LIFETIME commitment and a FINANCIAL responsibility

if you really want to help - go volunteer at the shelter or help at fund raisers for the shelter or spread the word about spaying and neutering
Reply:Your heart is in the right place but honestly working to improve the welfare of animals will have way more of an impact than adopting another pet. Volunteering at a local shelter is fun and you get to learn a lot about animals. The things that will help animals the most are:

1. Spaying and neutering all pets at an early age

2. Adopting from shelters, not from a breeder.

3. Laws protecting the safety and welfare of animals, including enforcing laws requiring vaccinations and living condition standards

4. Educating people on suitable pet choices based on their lifestyle (example: many people jump to adopt a puppy to "teach responsibility" to their children and it winds up in the shelter when no one will walk it or it gets too big for an apartment.)

Try and focus your efforts on one of these areas, not so much as adopting pets. You can't bring them all home!
Reply:I know how you feel, It makes me sad too, knowing that all of those animals are just sitting there, waiting for someone to take them home and be good to them. I have a ton of pets-I feel like I want to save them all. I try to find homes for all of the homeless pets through friends or even someone that I just bump into, it helps because you are finding them somewhere to go even if you can't take anymore in. The Humane Society lets people volunteer for them at the shelters with all kinds of different jobs and that helps too. Good Luck to you---
